AUSTRIA – “Women’s Future-Digitalisation-New Work”
Country: Austria
Austria’s social innovation project: The Competence Network “Women’s Future-Digitalization-New Work” was aimed at women living in rural areas of upper Austria.
Challenges:
The upper Austria regions of implementation present:
- the highest gender pay gap,
- strong migration trends,
- a shortage of skilled labour,
- well-established traditional gender roles.
Women in these regions also face:
- insufficient support for childcare,
- mobility difficulties,
- strong expectations of fulfilling traditional gender roles.
Aim:
The project offered the opportunity to women in rural areas in upper Austria to:
- acquire digital skills,
- become professionally empowered,
- strengthen their self-confidence, so that they can enter the labour market.
For this purpose, mobile workshops were implemented with individual guidance coupled with a flexible timetable and a digital competence network platform was developed as:
- a place for exchange, networking and mutual support,
- a market for offering products and services,
- a hub of ideas to improve local conditions in the effort to overcome traditional role models.
